A century ago, Edward S. Curtis created a remarkable photographic record of Indian life in The North American Indian. This masterwork included images that are now icons of the old west and of American Indians as they once were. Mountain Hawk presents a series of museum quality Curtis prints drawn directly from early edition photogravures, prints which recapture the beauty and depth of the original pressings.

Remarkable fine art archival prints from 19th century photographer E. S. Curtis’ historic masterwork, The North American Indian, are now available as a limited numbered edition. These beautiful Museum Quality prints were rendered directly from the complete early edition 20-volume set of the photographer’s vintage photogravures stored at Denver University. Ranging from moving portraits to sweeping dramatic landscapes, our historic collection features 100 of the most sought after images, representing the Southwest, Plains and Northwest Tribal Nations, portraying the spectrum of Indian life over a century ago. Because of Curtis’ vision, talent and sacrifice, in this special reissue we have the privilege of being able to see them as they once were.
Richly toned and detailed, these collectable fine art prints are meticulously made by Mountain Hawk’s Master Printers using the best traditional, and state-of-the-art techniques and materials. All prints are made using archival sepia inks on heavy 100% cotton rag paper with a longevity rating of 200+ years using museum quality framing. All images are produced as Curtis did, in warm rich sepia tones giving them a part painting/part photograph look with the same magical sense of light and depth found in Curtis’ best earliest edition gravures. They are available in 11x14 (S), 17x22 (M), 23x30 (L) and 33x40 (XL). Stunning hand-pulled intaglio photogravures on cotton or tissue and photographic murals are also available. Beautiful and rare, these master prints of the most compelling and enduring Native American images will become family heirlooms.
